Discussion Prompts

In the sermon, Bryce addressed many people’s misconception that life as a Christian is supposed to be all good and sweet. But we know that there is always STUFF that challenges our relationships.
The video testimony (at the beginning of the sermon) is very powerful. It just reminds us of the importance of working on our relationships. One of the reasons is that we know that hardship will come, in one way or another. And when our relationships are strong, then we can endure these hardships easier. It’s never easy, but it is easier together.
What is the STUFF that keeps you from investing in your relationship?
Take an inventory of your life. What is it that could be cut out of your busy schedule in order to invest in your relationship? If it helps you, write even a time-budget. You know, the thing where you write down how much time you have (7×24=168 hours per day), and then what time you spend on sleep, on work, on leisure activity,… AND on investing in your relationship.
Bryce also mentioned that God always has a plan, but we are left to choose. When a challenge presents itself, we need to choose to do it our way or God’s way. We need to take ownership of our life. Here is a challenge:
What part in your life do you need to take ownership over? Where do you need to choose to do it God’s way? Think of a specific life situation.
Every step into the God-direction will have an impact. It will change your environment, your situation and sometimes even your circumstances, but most important, it will change you! It is God’s goal that you change, to the better, more and more into what HE has for you!
One more thing: if you prayed Bryce’s prayer at the end of his sermon, here are three things that we recommend for you:
  1. Tell someone! – Tell a friend, a pastor, or someone from church that you prayed that prayer. Celebrate this important step of stepping into a relationship with God.
  2. Check out this reading plan: https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/2838 – For the next 7 days learn what it means to be a new Believer.
  3. Read the Bible regularly. Start with the Gospel of John (look it up in any Bible’s index). Read a paragraph or a chapter a day. And if you have questions contact us. We can help.
May God bless you!

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
