Discussion Prompts

Connection, Care, Challenge, Clarity & Celebration. Building blocks for biblical community straight from the early church’s example (Acts 2:42-47). As we go through this current sermon series we take a deeper look at the third building block called CHALLENGE.

At Manheim BIC, our mission is to “Initiate and nurture a growing relationship with God.”

Pastor Bryce gave us many good examples and pushed us to consider what that mission statement actually, practically means. What is this “initiating a relationship with Christ”? And how can I help others with that? What does it mean to grow in my relationship with God? And what are the nurturing ways of such growth?

Make it practical this week! Make it a goal to help “initiate and nurture a growing relationship with Christ”. Here is how you can get started:

  1. Where do you spend the bulk of your time during the day? What kind of people do you get in contact with during the day? And how can you signal a person that you are able and willing to help a person INITIATE a relationship with God?
  2. I would say that a possible interpretation of Romans 12:2 could be “Don’t be influenced by the world, but influence the world with God.” Based on that interpretation, what is your realm of influence? Home? Kids? Your own business? Your co-workers? School? Now ask yourself, who can I positively influence this environment by bringing God into it? NURTURE your world of influence.
  3. What do you recognize as an area where you have to try one more time? What is that one thing where you have given up on; Bible reading, helping, praying? Pick it up one more time, and now, don’t just do it; try to go deeper. Dig deeper into God’s word. Maybe with a new Bible reading tool. Dig deeper into prayer. Maybe use a journal to record your prayer. Dig deeper. Set it as a new years resolution for 2021.

God wants all people to be saved AND to come to a knowledge of Him. (1Tim2:4). Start your walk with God, just a little bit deeper, just a little bit more intentional, and you will be astonished how much growth you will experience.

Blessings to all of you!

Pastor Daniel

BibleApp

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
