Study Guide:

We are wrapping up the Jonah series. Another sermon series that challenges us to live with a mindset that is like God’s.

Pastor Joshua Finley made us aware that the book of Jonah ends lacking a response. It simply says:

“Then the LORD said, “You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothing to put it there. It came quickly and died quickly. But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?” (Jonah 4:10-11)

What was Jonah’s answer? More importantly, what is your answer?

    • What will YOU do when God changes your plans for His purpose?

Who, or what situation comes to your mind, where you know that God wants you to act? Write it down, and come up with 2-3 action steps in the right direction.

And while you contemplate, here is another challenge:

    • How will YOU respond when God chooses to forgive our worst enemy? Is your worst enemy even part of God’s next steps? How? What do you plan to do?

And lastly

    • How do you plan to focus on the eternal over the temporal? Think of two actions that help you focus on God on a daily basis – something that you don’t already do.
We ought to open our hearts to the Spirit to transform our entitlement into empathy. Make it a point to seek HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness. (Math. 6:33).

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
