The Armor of God on Valentine’s Day? In today’s sermon, you were able to see how practical the Armor of God can be when applied in the proper way. In our Relationship series we take a closer look at ways to protect our relationships from threats, and at the same time strengthen our relationships. In order to accomplish that we looked at 5 elements from the Armor of God.
To get you started, think of op to 20 relationship connections that you have, and cherish. Relationships at home, in the church, and at work. Which people come to your mind?
Write down their names.
Now, each of the elements of the Armor of God will focus on protecting and strengthening those relationships, and maybe even help you with the difficult ones.
Belt of Truth
What relationship do you need to evaluate and see if it lives up to Godly standards? For example, is your marriage set up in a biblical way (see last week’s sermon)? If you are uncertain, if a certain relationship lives up to God’s standards, check the Bible to see what the standard actually is?
Breastplate of Righteousness
Look at the closest relationships you have. What do you value in these relationships? Why do you value these relationships? Great relationships are worth fighting for.
Gospel of the ready to spread the Gospel
Think of a person with whom you are currently in conflict. How does being redeemed make a difference in your relationship with that person? What sin of yours, or sinful behavior, is holding you back from having a better relationship with…?
Shield of Faith
What conversation do you need to have, to save a relationship or mend a broken relationship? How can you assure that trusting God in this conversation is taking place? Which Bible verse might help? What prayer do you need to say beforehand?
Helmet of Salvation
Do you doubt that God could ever love you again after you screwed up that much? Read Romans 8: 31-39. Write down, what strikes you as most amazing in this text.
May these 5 elements of the Armor of God be a guide for you and the relationships you have.
Blessings to you and Happy Valentine’s Day.

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
