Group Discussion & Life Challenge

Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.

Connect:

Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.

Care:

Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.

Challenge:

1) Share with the group a time that you had to wait for something for an unreasonable amount of time? Reflect as a group on what waiting can do to a person, do you enjoy waiting? Do you avoid waiting?
2) How do you think you would have reacted to being told you were going to be walking around a city in silence?
3) Has God ever asked or inspired you to do something that has made you feel uncomfortable? Did you overcome the discomfort? If so, how?
4) Joshua had an encounter with a commander of the Lord’s army, seemingly equipping Joshua for the coming battle. How would that have changed your hope and faith in a time like this? Is that something that can happen to us today? How are believers equipped for
battle? Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17 and Eph 4:11-12 and Heb 13:21
5) God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Eph 3:20), The walls of Jericho could not stand, they occupied Holy ground and yet they were unholy, so they had to move.
Is there some area of your life right now that needs a Jericho-esk eviction-like moment? Consider sharing this with the group and join together for prayer and praise over this challenge and victory.

Clarify:

Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?

Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
