Group Discussion & Life Challenge
Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.
Connect:
Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.
Care:
Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.
Challenge:
1. This week we discuss being witnesses and the power of the Holy Spirit helping us be an effective witness. What examples, if any, do you recall from your own life and maybe your own spiritual journey. Write some down and consider sharing those with your group.
2. Starting with our stories is important because as we share we engage in the very act of being a witness as Jesus called us to. Part of being a witness is speaking and sharing about how you have encountered Jesus in your own life. Can you share with the group whether you find this hard, easy or somewhere in between and what you believe makes it that way.
3. Acts 1:8 you will receive “power” what does that mean, what scriptures do you find most helpful in understanding this? Acts 2:1-4 / John 16:13 / Ephesians 4:23 / 1 Corinthians 4:20 or others?
4. How has the Holy Spirit been introduced to you and how has that impacted your understanding and relationship with Him? (I would say that it is likely that some of us would not normally refer to the Holy Spirit as a Him, a person) Share your thoughts and reflect on John 16:7-15
5. How will you engage with the Holy Spirit differently this week?
6. Who are you praying for that does not yet have a relationship with the Lord?
Clarify:
Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?
Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.
Through the Bible in one Year
Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.
All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
