Group Discussion & Life Challenge
Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.
Connect:
Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.
Care:
Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.
Challenge:
1. Sharing Jesus with others can feel uncomfortable or nerve-racking. What are some of the reasons for that? What fears come to mind?
2. God often calls us into situations where we need to depend on Him instead of ourselves. Share a time when God worked through your weakness or discomfort.
3. The first circle is brokenness. What are some ways people try to escape or cope with their brokenness? How have you personally seen that “peace doesn’t come from creation; it comes from the Creator”?
4. Jordan said, “Salvation isn’t about what you achieve, but who you believe.” Why is to easy for us to drift toward performance and self-effort instead of relying fully on what Jesus has already done? How does the gospel free us from a “works mindset”?
5. “Saved people are sent people.” What does living a “sent life” practically look like in your current season of life? Think about your different areas of influence – work, neighborhood, family, everyday routines, etc. Who is God placing on your heart to pray for an opportunity to engage with intentionality?
6. Jesus calls His followers to be “salt and light” in a broken world. In a culture that often encourages Christians to stay silent or blend in, what does it look like to faithfully and positively influence others with truth, grace, and hope without becoming combative or judgmental?
Clarify:
Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?
Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.
Through the Bible in one Year
Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.
All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
