The Manifestation Gifts

Group Discussion & Life Challenge

Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.

Connect:

Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.

Care:

Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.

Challenge:

1. When was a time when you sensed that God particularly strengthened or gifted you to serve someone else or the church in general?

2. This week, we continue exploring life in the Holy Spirit by looking at the Manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12, Whether on your own or with a group, read these passages out loud.

3. The greek word Phenerosis translated Manifestation, we discussed Sunday how that means that Christ is being revealed through believers using their gifts, do you feel that describes how the gifts are at work in your life? Why, why not?

4. The Greek word for these spiritual gifts is charismata. This is a derivative of the Greek word charis, which is usually translated as grace. This is perhaps most clear in Romans 12:3-8. What do you think the significance of this is for our understanding of spiritual gifts?

5. Take a moment to list offthe different gifts that are mentioned in the three passages you read aloud. What gifts are common amongst the lists? What gifts are unique to one list or another? Do you think Paul is trying to offer complete lists or merely suggestive lists?

6. Are you personally feeling comfortable to operate in a manifestation gift? Why, Why not? What would help?

7. What would you be most comfortable with first, Saying something? Doing something? Revealing something? Maybe break into pairs in your groups and Share and then pray for one another.

Clarify:

Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?

Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
