Faith and Fasting

Group Discussion & Life Challenge

Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.

Connect:

Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.

Care:

Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.

Challenge:

1. Bryce had mentioned the week of Prayer, and taking time this week to visit the chapel, did you visit and or will you? What was your experience and what can you share about your time?

2. As you consider fasting for Lent as was encouraged this week, what one thing do you think will be the most helpful for you to fast from, even if you do not plan on doing so, consider sharing with the group and the why?

3. This series is titled “Rend your hearts” . Take a moment to consider Joel 2 and discuss this idea and what the purpose of this series is. Why do you think it is important to spend time considering returning our whole hearts to the Lord?

4. This is an easy one… we discussed this week what it means to “Return” to the Lord or to “Repent” When does repentance usually take place in your life? Should it happen more and if so when and how?

5. The process marked out for repentance that Bryce listed is listed below from 1-4. Take a moment to discuss the process and share with the group and example in your own life. You can start with the easy stuffand maybe in later weeks we can share more.

● 1 Recognize/Sorrow

● 2 Confession/Ownership

● 3 Adjust/stop/start

● 4 Choose/Decide to go a different direction

6. How will you be putting this into practice this week? Does it feel doable or do you have a different way that you feel works well?

Clarify:

Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?

Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.

Through the Bible in one Year

Join us in reading through the entire Bible in one year. Each day of this plan guides you through passages from both the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to see connections between the history of our faith, and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. Readings average four chapters in length, so it is posible to do. When you use the YouVersion Bible App, you can even have the app read the Bible text to you – very useful when you are in the car or otherwise occupied with your hand.

All you need to do is click the link to the Bible Plan, which should lead you straight to the Bible app. Your two options are now (1) to read the plan on your own, one day at the time. Or (2) you can make it more fun and rewarding, by sharing the plan with one or more friends, and then even “Talk about it”.
