Study Guide:
We don’t know exactly how Jonah said it, but when the Ninevites heard the message, they believed and turned (Jh 3:1-10). In connection with the first three steps of Celebrate Recovery, Pastor Bryce pointed out that the key to T.U.R.N.ing your life around is fourfold:
T – Trust God!
Make a list of your hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Where have you been hurt? What hang-up bothers you? What habit can’t you shake? Do you trust God to get you out of that mess?
U – Understand, God sees the bigger picture
Ask yourself: If God would fully step into this mess, what would it look like. Draw a picture, write a poem, create a piece of art, whatever feels right to you- create something that displays what the particular situation would look like if you would let God step into it.
R – Repent of your Sin
What is it actually that has caused you to be in this mess? Do you need to recognize a particular sin and ask God for forgiveness? Were you hurt by someone and you need to turn to God for healing? Are you stuck and you need God’s guidance and direction? – In the fullest sense, all these are elements of the word repentance.
N – New Life In Jesus
Now, take a RED Sharpie. Take out the list that you made in step one. And in big letters write across this list “I have a new life in Christ.”
