Use these notes as discussion prompts for your group, or in your personal time with God.
Connect:
Get to know each other. Connect, warm up to each other, fellowship.
Care:
Carry each other’s burdens. Share life’s challenges and practice Soul Care. Pray together.
Challenge:
1. Are you ever tempted to fear EMPIRE instead of trusting God?
2. Where does your peace rest? Where does your security reside? What will bring you peace of mind and let you rest at night?
3. Are we tempted to pursue EMPIRE instead of resting in God’s plan?
4. Take the exercise Aaron suggested: If you worry about the future, write down what you’re worried about, and write it down in pencil using this format: “______(your name) is worried about…” and then fill in the thing you’re worried about. _______ is worried about the election. ________ is worried about the stock market. _______ is worried about whatever. Then flip that pencil around and erase the first three words “_______ is worried” and instead write “God is in control over…” It’s true, right? It’s true that God is in control over that thing. Share with each other that thing and pray for your faith in God to increase.
Clarify:
Does anyone need clarity on something? Are there any big God questions you are wrestling with?
Celebrate:
Celebrate life’s successes and God’s provision. Worship God’s presence. Time to brag about God.
